後日亜紀ちゃんから感想をもらった
感想の一節:
In addition to making students practice speaking English, I had another goal in mind to make them practice (critical) thinking. The skill that I think Japanese students lack is how to think on their own. I strongly believe the critical thinking skill or a thinking skill itself is critical when it comes to not only learning but also working. Japanese students are excellent at doing given tasks and following instructions. However, what it leaves to is the lack of thinking. How often do you encounter situations where students are asked “what do you think?” Most of students I taught managed to speak, listen, and do tasks in English. However, when I gave them an activity to come up with their own ideas, they had hard time doing so.

日本の学生は、与えられた課題をこなすことに優れているが
考える作業に欠けている。』
Overall, activities were successful as they were able to “think” and work on the project I gave them. I was impressed by how much they can make sentences in English on their own. Although middle school students needed some help with grammar that they haven’t learned, they were able to make full sentences in English.
『全体としては、英文を書く力があることには驚いた』

恥ずかしいと思う自身の中にあるバリアを取り外す勇気
